Email to Mayor Felix, February 22nd, 2022

As I said earlier in this document, Mike had said to me “You’ve changed, you used to be reasonable”, and I spent quite a while trying to understand why he said that.  But after much thought I think I understand his statement now.

Mike had been heavily manipulated, by Jeff and/or Gina, two people whom he trusted deeply.  They had convinced him that Jeff’s actions were correct and that he didn’t need to get involved in the affairs of the SEDC.  In essence, he was led to believe that things were going smoothly and Jeff was navigating properly.

When Mike saw my actions and heard my statements against that backdrop, my frustration looked out of place and unreasonable.  He couldn’t fathom why I was so upset with Jeff, when Jeff and/or Gina had convinced him that Jeff had done nothing wrong, so he perceived my actions as “unreasonable”.

With my new understanding of Mike’s mindset, I sent him an email on February 22nd, to explain that I felt he thought I was being unreasonable because “someone had misled you about what was happening with the SEDC.”  I also reminded him “As you are aware, there are several members of the Board of Directors who have similar concerns about Councilman Bickerstaff’s conduct last year as Board Liaison.”

I told him that I suspected that somebody had advised him against having a joint session the year before, and that we could figure out who was manipulating him if he would tell me who he had talked to about the EDC when I had emailed him the prior year, when he had failed to call me.

He never replied.
