Councilmember Michelle Howarth

From the beginning of Jeff's initiative to have the EDC by-laws amended, in January of 2021, Michelle had been in favor of making the change.  At several points in meetings and in a phone call with me she expressed that she felt the CEO position required daily oversight.  It seemed like an odd stance to me, coming from a councilmember who oversaw the City Manager who herself had no daily oversight.  Why was the City Manager fine running the entire city without somebody managing her, but the CEO needed somebody managing her while she was running the SEDC?

From what Michelle said, her opinion wasn't about the former CEO personally, but she had "structural" concerns about the position not having somebody over them day-to-day.

I didn't particularly disagree, but that oversight could have been accomplished with a much smaller change to the by-laws than what Jeff was recommending.

Michelle voted along with Jeff against holding a joint meeting with the board of directors prior to approving Jeff's amendment, and she voted along with Jeff to remove me when he requested my dismissal.

She received my complaint when I submitted it in March of 2022, and I haven't gotten any response from her regarding it.

When she was running for reelection in 2024 I posted several comments on her campaign page asking her why the council had not addressed my complaint but she "hid" the comments so the citizens would not see them and did not respond to them.

I've sent her two emails, but she has never responded.  You can read those emails below.

Michelle has done nothing to investigate or address the complaint which I filed over three years ago, and she has voted alongside Jeff on every vote regarding the SEDC.

She had done nothing to demand honesty, integrity, or accountability from her fellow councilmember.
